The two models are likely to battle head-to-head for supremacy, in a market that may or may not be growing. With a starting price just more than $2000 above the Insight's base price, and mileage combined city/highway mileage almost 10 miles per gallon more, Toyota hopes the new Prius will be the victor.
The Prius has become the leading hybrid brand, making it a choice for folks demanding high fuel efficiency along with comfort. The current Prius engine has a 1.8 liter V4 with 98 horsepower and 105 foot-pounds of torque. That's a relative weak engine when compared to the Corolla's 1.8 liter V4 which delivers 132 horsepower.
